SurveyTandem will keep your private data for a period of 10 years after your last login. Once this time period has expired or if you decide to delete your account before then, we will remove the personal identification information mentioned above. You will not be able to login again with your account and your tandem miles will be lost.

If you have agreed to receive marketing, you may always opt out at a later date.

The right to access – You have the right to request SurveyTandem for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.

The right to rectification – You have the right to request that SurveyTandem correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request SurveyTandem to complete the information you believe is incomplete.

How does SurveyTandem work?

SurveyTandem allows you find survey participants by sharing a link to your online survey with members of the community who will gladly fill it out in exchange for tandem miles. To earn tandem miles, you simply have to fill other members’ surveys. Once you have collected enough tandem miles for at least one response to your survey, your survey becomes visible to the community. When members take your survey, your amount of tandem miles will reduce accordingly. As soon as you do not have enough tandem miles anymore, your survey will be invisible again until you collect enough tandem miles again.

How do I create a survey?

SurveyTandem does not enable you to create a survey but simply to share a link to an existing one. Creating online surveys can be done using survey creation websites.

When can I take a survey and start collecting Tandem Miles?

You can start any time! You do not need to have posted a survey to start collecting Tandem Miles!

You can also earn tandem miles by recommending SurveyTandem to your friends. When they register, they simply need to enter your email address in the field “Email of buddy” under “My Profile”. Once your buddy has received his first answer to his survey, you will receive 200 Tandem miles. This is not limited to one buddy. You can recommend SurveyTandem to as many people as you like and will earn tandem miles accordingly. Furthermore, this helps the community grow, increasing the speed of getting responses for everyone.

How can I participate in a survey?

Select "Take a survey" in the menu bar to see the currently available surveys. You may choose to take a survey or hide it permanently.
For each survey, you are able to see:

• The title
• A short description
• User criteria required
• The amount of miles to earn
• The number of users who already took the survey
• The time required to fill out the survey

We recommend to carefully check this information before choosing to take a survey. Once you click on “Take this survey now”, the actual survey will be shown within the SurveyTandem Website.
Fill out all of the answers of the survey to the best of your ability, after all the owner of that survey is a community member just like you who is simply interested in getting truthful and detailed answers.
Once you are finished, click on “Survey Completed” at the bottom of the page. The corresponding amount of tandem miles will immediately be accredited to your account.
Please keep in mind that the list of available surveys to be taken is a dynamic one which continuously changes. We therefore recommend to check regularly if new surveys are available.

How can I post a survey on SurveyTandem?

In the menu bar, click on "My surveys>> Post a new survey". Fill out the mandatory fields and press “Publish”.

The field “Time required to fill out the survey” is used to help survey owners verify if a response is valid. Do take in account fast readers and typers as well as non-mandatory questions in your survey when evaluating this minimum time.

Can I modify the data concerning my survey at any time?

Yes. Simply click on "My surveys >> Edit".

What is a reviewed survey?

SurveyTandem does not review surveys before they are published to avoid slowing down the process. SurveyTandem does reserve the right to review a published survey at any point in time. This would happen for example if a survey is reported by a user. SurveyTandem reviews the content and the time required to fill out the survey. SurveyTandem may decide to block surveys (or users) that do not respect the Terms & Conditions of this website. In case the time estimated to take the survey is obviously erroneous, SurveyTandem will modify it to the best of its knowledge without prior notice. After being reviewed, some properties of the surveys (Link, Minimum time required to fill out the survey) cannot be modified anymore under “My Surveys >> edit”. Reviewed surveys are labelled as such for all to see.

Can I post multiple surveys in parallel?

Yes, you can.
The only restriction is that SurveyTandem does not allow you to post the same survey more than once even if you create a new user for it. The reason is that it would otherwise allow the same users to take the survey multiple times.

Who is able to participate in my survey?

Any user who can understand the language of your survey will be able to see your survey. Please keep in mind that your survey will only be visible if you have set its status to “active” and if you have enough tandem miles to get at least one response.

How can I temporarily deactivate a survey on SurveyTandem?

You can do so by changing the status in "my surveys". When “inactive”, a survey is not visible anymore. It can be reactivated at any time by changing the status back to "active".
If you wish to permanently deactivate a survey, simply click on “delete”.

How does SurveyTandem prevent users from cheating?

SurveyTandem is a community based on trust. We all want to get truthful and detailed responses as quickly as possible. But it does not help anyone if people falsely declare having filled out a survey just to earn tandem miles rapidly and without any effort. Imagine if someone would do the same with your survey!
This is why SurveyTandem gives its members the possibility to verify, rate and even reject responses. To do so, SurveyTandem recommends survey owners to add the following question at the end of their surveys:

"What is your SurveyTandem user name? (Please ignore this question if you are not a surveytandem.com user)"

Remark: If this question appears in a survey, make sure that you answer this question by typing in correctly your SurveyTandem user name, which you can find in the menu bar of SurveyTandem.com.
This is very important as the survey owner will use this answer to verify that you have indeed filled out his survey. Any mistake will lead him to believe that you have not filled out his survey and you may be penalized for it.

Once someone declares having filled out a survey, the survey owner is notified per e-mail. By clicking on “Your user name >> My Surveys” in the menu bar, a user is able to see the number of pending confirmations. By clicking on “pending”, the owner is able to see the user name of the person who filled out the survey, the approximate time (CET) at which he has declared having completed the survey and the time spent filling out the survey.
With this information, the survey owner is able to check on the website of the survey provider (where he created the survey) if a response is indeed registered. He may then rate the response before clicking “Confirm” or “Reject” back on the SurveyTandem website.
If a response was rejected, SurveyTandem will discount the earned tandem miles and penalize the user with an extra 25% of tandem miles to be earned.

Users may check the status of their responses at any time by clicking on “My responses” in the menu bar. Please be aware that survey owners will not immediately rate responses nor are they obliged to do so at all.

What happens to my tandem miles when someone takes my survey?

For each response, SurveyTandem transfers 75% of the tandem miles you chose to give per response to the user who took the survey. The remaining 25% is used to promote SurveyTandem by giving away tandem miles. This helps the community grow and increases the speed and diversity of responses!
